Piranha 3D

Now first off, 3D for me is just a gimmick. I am totally not on board this bandwagon of an idea. I find that you are too busy concentrating on areas on the screen and missing other parts, how it strains my eyes and makes the effect null and void doesn't help the matter.
The only good thing I think it has going for it is that it isn't easily and readily available in the household yet. So its something which you can on access in the cinema, on a giant screen. At home I find it will be just as useless as the old style of red and green plastic in paper frames.

Now to the movie, Seeing as it was the 2nd week that the film was in the cinema, and already relegated to screen 3 out of 8 was not a welcome sign. I had already heard previous to my viewing that figures showed it was a success and that a sequel was already on the cards. Instantly killing the ending of "we killed them". No love, your clearly mistaken, there is a sequel already in development so these little hungry munchers are not being killed off anytime soon.

So the plot is a real head scratcher. Right up there with the Matrix and Inception.... I was always a terrible liar.... no this plot is as common as muck. So basically there is a nice little town with hundreds.... sorry thousands of beautiful people. The woman are all scantly clad and the men are all hunky and have pecks. The town have some sort of weekend break or something happening (to be honest I never cared enough too found out) and it just so happens a earthquake happens beneath the lake which therefore causes a sinkhole or something to open up and connect a 2 million old cavern full of..... you guessed it, weird Piranha.... and these Piranha are crazy fuckers. They hungry bastards who have been surviving on cannibalism. We find this out after the local crazy fish professor Doc from Back to the Future himself Christopher Lloyd! (And yes when he came on the screen I did say out loud "GREAT SCOTT")
Leading up to that point we discover slowly about these creatures and how they had to have closed down the lake YESTERDAY (DUN DUN DUN!!!!!) to prevent the hot gorgeous horny kids to be ripped apart!
So whilst this shit is going on Justin Bieber..... or that Effron kid from High School Musical has cloned himself into this movie. This kid turns out he is the Sheriffs son. He manages to get a job showing this porn director and our very own Kelly Brook around the lake so they can record graphic shit etc. It was kinda stupid really, but hey that's what these script writers come up with! So whilst Kelly Brook, some Blondie and the future replacement of Megan Fox get all raunchy and use 3D for its "true potential" (quote from my friend) Over at the lake somewhere DJ Chocolate Thunder is spinning his decks on some floating platform with rig on. The Sheriff and her Backup Ving Rhames is trying to get everyone out of the water. Cue lots of ignoring and then lots of eventual dead people in all manner of funny ways. The gore levels are up there and are entertainingly crazy, making you gasp and awe in its definate gruesomeness which builds up the eventual climax.

I didn't even talk about the kids cause they are fucking annoying. So won't get started there! What I do need to talk to you about it the boob count! in this film we counted 12 (yes 12!!!) different women's boobs on display! It was only a matter of time until the female upper half were released to the viewers in the "next best thing to hit the cinema". I just assumed that Jackass 3D (out in October) would of been the first.

Its a fun film and didn't drag too much, there are a lot of stupid things like the Piranhas went away from love interest when he threw a body in the water, yet when someone was getting perished a few minutes earlier they didn't budge. Some of the dialogue is very tongue in cheek. Don't let this put you off, its a good fun time out in the cinema. Before you take your queasy partner along though to make them jump into your arms, I would definatley warn them its pretty gruesome.

And as @Bazaa would say PENIS!

The Expendables

So... I must admit when I went into this film I was expecting much, and you shouldn't too. For those of you who went out and saw Stallone bring Rambo back will definatley know what to expect. Though this time they turn the dial to 11. and they do it in classic action film style!

Now everyone has seen the adverts showing the cast. Yes it is pretty awesome and alot of different faces on show, which is a great thing to do. We always would love to see all these action heros together. I remember when Face/Off came out. Seeing just Travolta and Cage in a film was pretty epic. Here we have a massive all star cast of old and new action stars, and I love how Stallone is showing that amongst the new guys of Li, Statham and Austin, you have a Stallone, a Rouke and a Lundgren. And I will stop there to say I was smiling in my seat seeing the reunion of Rocky IV on my screen! :D

The story and plot is not that original, but really its not expected with the cast on offer, the one part of the trailer everyone saw was the return of Arnold "Arnie" Schwarzenegger to the big screen. Now to cut you short it is only a 5 minute scene. He only does a bit of talking. Though to see him share with Stallone and Willis it is a fun scene, and there is some great banter. You can tell that Arnie hasn't been in the game for a while, and I hope his govenor job comes to a end soon cause it would be great to see him return to where he should be.

So to finish up, all in all its great fun, lots of bad ass killing and over the top ridiculous action and big explosions that engulf and envolpe everything. Just don't go expecting an Oscar nominated film, just go enjoy yourself, have a good time laughing out loud.

All I got to ask. Whens the sequel?

NFL R&R Episode 6.12 – AFC East Assessment Show

Welcome backs guys!! Hope you had fantastic holidays and a great time away from life at home.

I gotta say being a Pats fan that I am insanely proud of the 2007 Regular season. Two players smashing records with Moss and Brady. But yes, I would like to forget that we couldn't finish the job. Absolutley heartbreaking as you can imagine. The fact we had Giants in the last game of the season and eaked out a win to make it 16-0 was great. But yes I would happily let them win that and we win the Superbowl.
Serves me right I suppose for Joining you on the "happy feet" Manning bandwagon! ;)

Quiet surprises that you both has gone for the Patriots as the division winner. Was sure that you would be going with the Jets after all the off season activity they have had.

I know you have been speaking alot about the previous years fantasy leagues, but what's the timeschedule for this years? Due to work I am hoping for a weekend fantasy draft whatever league I end up in :)

Something else I was wondering. you have 7 more divison assessements to go. Yet the season starts in 8? can we expect double shows sooner?

Hi Ho

Was back at work today for the first time in two and a half weeks. When I first booked it back in December my holiday was based all around England's World Cup campaign and if they progressed further, the final end of the tournament. As we knew now that never developed into anything so I have a rather chilled relaxing final few weeks off.
A few months before I decided due to circumstances that I wouldn't be going back to that job after my holiday, that I would find something closer to home. It's not that I don't enjoy it, I love it, I love the people I work with. Ever since I joined that part of the company I had the choice of traveling every day, or find our place (rent or buy) in the nearby area. Now it's not exactly a fantastic area which leads to one of the reasons why I don't abandon Saffron Walden to go there. Also the prospect of leaving all my friends and family behind. Not being able to meet them for breakfast, or hang out with on a Saturday evening. So now I am setting myself a nice goal of getting finically stable, transferring to a nearer store, and then getting my own place. I miss doing SW Film Club on Saturdays.

Game Room - My Thoughts

So Game Room is a new "hub" of old school 8 bit games that's available on XBox 360 as a download. When I heard about it I was not impressed to be perfectly honest. It sounded like they were re-releasing games like "Scrambled" and sticking them in a virtual arcade. Stupidly they know they will sell so its a losing battle. At 240 points a arcade cabinet its a costly price for a 20 year old game.

Something that annoys me more is the separation of XBox Live Arcade, and now Game Room. Why can't they combine these two places? I have probably close to 100 arcade games, probably more. After the amount I have paid and time I have put into these, why not add these into this hub world? Give each of these titles a update and a cabinet so we can sit these in our own virtual arcades. This way the arcade feel doesn't die and Game Room instantly has a massive database of games to put in what is at the moment a empty vacant place. Doing this will also keep the joys and give the feel of a virtual busy arcade more life. But what we currently have is a empty place with 30 games on the storefront that to be honest I had trouble buying any of them.
The whole mascots and rooms thing costing is going to be broken as well. People will buy them so they will continue to make them, but why not have them come with the game you bought. You buy a game and get the mascot with it? I see that a better deal.

The good thing about this simple place is I will eventually hopefully get hold of some classic games I loved. I have been shouting for a Road Rash game to hit the arcade since they first announced the damn place, and with the whole release of probably 7 games a week, I am hoping I will get my fix soon.
I also like the cool thing of having a arcade cabinet and yes they look nice and detailed, but with the avatar standing in front of the damn thing its hard to see 1. The cabinet, and 2. what game it

Its definitely a start, and the sounds and atmosphere has been caught, but there is still a long way to go till I am spending time in this arcade, like I did playing Space Invaders & Cadillacs and Dinosaurs at my local Leisure Centre.

Distance and I

Distance + Lee = hashtag win

Distance and I, have gone together for a long time now. We are like Peas and Carrots, Burgers and Fries, Forrest and Jenny.

Since my Mum took off (harsh I know) and departed for the beautiful Teeside area (sorry folks but its not) when I was 13 years old, traveling has come the norm. Long travel as well. 3 and a half hours to get there from my home to visit there. It wouldn't happen much but I went up there at least once a year. Normally Mum would come here and visit me.

So about 6 years ago I took on a new job role in Homebase as part of the refit team. We would travel from place to place all over the whole of the country. It originally was only suppose to be helping one store out locally, but turned into a full time thing. So where I had never been to Scotland, Ireland and Wales, I managed to visit all of them in the space of 4 months. Pretty cool. The lifestyle wasn't great at times. I lost touch with a lot of my friends due to being away 5 days of the week. Weekends were my time to chill out at home and do nothing. When living at a hotel 5 nights, you tend to work longer hours. 12 hour days were normal daily routines for me during those times. Then back to the hotel for food and beers. I have never eaten so well. We had daily allowances so you could definitely get lunch, and 3 courses in a evening meal. I do blame this for my slight beer belly now, but if I had never of done this lifestyle I wouldn't have some of the great memories and times I had.
I won't go to far into it but I will pick a few things out of it to just talk about why I am focusing about Distance, because I am kinda trying to link it back to it ultimately being involved with me.

So when I used to go up to my mum's I started seeing a girl up there. It was hard as being 16 and only seeing this girl 4 times a year, its not going to work. It was more a lust thing. Just wanted to get my end away like the typical hot blooded teenager I was. Never happened though obviously, distance there was the winner.
It was a long time after until I met OL (don't want her being branded here, and will spare her innocence) It was the first time that a girl has expressed interest in me, before it was all me trying and asking the girls out. Okay maybe not all her, I did my part too, but basically it wasn't too be. Will still chat now and stuff, but never will it go further than friends.

I have also had another girlfriend from parts unknown. Again it was a distance thing, but due to money at the time I couldn't afford to keep it on. Something that makes me laugh is that I can't seem to find anything local at all. If I find an interest, it normally fucks up as soon as it gets past the "curious" stage.

Even half my friends need traveling to Northampton being on, out of town areas etc. Don't get me wrong, I do have family and friends in my hometown, but the percentage of people out of town and around the country totally outweighs the people in town.

With my current job I am still traveling a hour at average there and a hour back.

So to stop this meaningless ramble of a blog post as my brain is like mashed potato due to tiredness. Distance and me just gel!

Whats all the fuss? This is the real fuss!

So as I sit here on my last night shift for a while I kinda remembered I had this blog. Have deleted alot of the posts due to embarrassing posts regarding my life and how shite it is and the things I gone through. Don't want people to see those things and for some reason that was the only place to vent for me during a difficult time.

So after reading Dan's latest post
I had to reply regarding his PMT moment over the gorgeous mouthwatering food which is Baked Beans.

He says
"Nothing on Earth is as mouth-watering as the smell of a cooked breakfast. Bacon sizzling under the grill; hot, plump sausages baking in the oven; the warm, nutty aroma of bread frying."
Okay I heartly agree with this. The English breakfast is a great thing, and I aim to have one once a week, okay I don't cook it and pay for it in the towns local cafe but still, its something I love to enjoy. Before I started talking to Dan via the means of twitter I knew one person of the "beans allergy's" and he just doesn't like them. Its fair enough, for some reason I don't want to defend my cause like Phoenix Wright and yell OBJECTION across the table and point straight at his face as I spew constant text about why he should eat the beans. Yet with Dan I seem to have to plead their cause.

He goes on..
"The English Breakfast is an absolute treat for the senses and if there's one thing that can ruin it in a bloody heartbeat, it's the addition of a big wet puddle of baked beans"
*puts hand up* woah woah woah their sailor! They ruin a breakfast?! In my case to your damnation against the Heinz kind I have to disagree here. Beans are very tasty. So tasty in fact I love how the juice oozes across the plate, and allowing me to dip my butter moist toast in it and soak it up before seductively talking a bite out of it. Thinking of it now makes me want it!

He continues....
"The cheap, sweet juice gets over everything and instantly taints the flavour of every other item on the plate. Baked beans are, quite frankly, an abomination and I despise them. The way they look, the way they taste, the way they smell - nothing about them is good and they make me very angry indeed."

Sorry Dan, The true devil of the breakfast world is the spawn of Satan themselves! Mushrooms

My love hate.... sorry, my HATE relationship with them started when I first started going to the local wetherspoons for meals with either my dad on a bonding session or whenever my mum comes down for a visit, which is about 4 times or so a year. I love the gammon in there. The gammon steak with garden peas, chips is just lush. I know its mostly microwaved meals and quick stuff, but its my favourite in those establishments so I normally go for this. Now this comes (or used to, its been a while) with a mushroom. Whenever I would visit the counter I would announce that I want NO mushrooms, even sometimes stating I was allergic to them to make crystal clear they would not come on my plate. What I hate about them is the fact they spread this black/brown watery puss over the plate and onto over delicious items on my plate. Staining the Chips and possessing them, thus blackening their soul with their soggy diarrhoea! Mushrooms are horrid vile things Yuk!

I know no two people will agree with everything, but I must fight

!BEAN POWER!
